Wireless Networking
Wi-Fi has come a long way in recent years but there is still a lot to know about how to get the best network via a wi-fi system.
Distance covered by wi-fi is a concern and often there are problems with "dead spots" . But it's not just the distance a wi-fi system can cover, it's the security of the network and also the stability of the network.
Cheap wi-fi access points can often cover the necessary distances but the speed of the network and stability of the network is often compromised.
Cheaper wi-fi access points use the 2.4 Ghz wave length which is also used by cordless phones and other devices so there can be a lot of interference and with so many wi-fi devices out there, the channels used can become over crowded and so careful thought needs to go into setting up a wi-fi network.
Cheltenham Computer Specialists can install wi-fi networks using all levels of wi-fi equipment including indoor and outdoor access points, repeaters and signal boosters.

MIMO Technology
MIMO stands for Multiple Input, Multiple Output and is basically a method for multiplying the capacity of a radio link using multiple transmit and receive antennas. In short, it strengthens the signal and makes it more reliable and more stable.
If you are going to set up a wi-fi network in a business environment where databases are used and constant connections to a server or remote file sharing locations, then it's wise to invest in a solid wi-fi system.
Sage's Accounting package for example, needs a constant and solid connection. If a user has the database open and the wi-fi connection fails, the database could become corrupt. This would be the same for a CRM system or other databases, so stability is key.
MIMO is an important part of a wi-fi units stability, therefore, getting a MIMO wi-fi access point is important for business networks. These access points do not need to be square boxes with large antennas. It's now possible to get modern looking Access Points that fit onto the ceiling or wall and are very inconspicuous:
